New owners for Grandt Line?

The word coming out of the O/S Scale West + Narrow Gauge meet from this past weekend is that new owners for Grandt Line have been found. While this blog doesn't normally deal in rumors, this is important enough information to the hobby that we're passing it along. If this turns out to be true, this will be Great News for the hobby. Stay tuned!

Passenger Car Detail Parts Available again

Some years back Ladd Houda designed and introduced a line of passenger car under body detail parts. They were most recently marketed by The Supply Car, but again dropped off of the market. They are now available again from Pre-Size Model Specialties.

Pre-Size has introduced 24 new detail parts for S scale passenger cars. The parts are produced in high-quality resin. These new items are numbers 530 - 557. See them on the Pre-Size Model Specialities web site.

MotorMax 1:64 Dioramas

These came out a while ago, but over the last week, I have run across two variations of this products that I had not seen before -- Bustling Metropolis has a subway stop with a Ford Crown Victoria yellow cab, and Down Town has a Savings & Loans with a white 1956 Ford Thunderbird. Here's the complete selection of 1:64 dioramas I have run across -- but there have been numerous variations from what I understand...

Stairs, Stairs, Stairs...

Recently the Bristol S Gauge Railroaders visited for our
monthly meeting. During the course of the afternoon some of them noticed some kits for stairs that I had in stock. They were not aware that these S scale stairs are available, nor where to get them. So in the interest of  providing greater visibility...

The S scale stair kits are produced by fellow S scale modeler Mike Fyten at Kaw Valley Designs. Mike has four different S scale stair kits available:

  • Kit #301 - Straight Stairs
  • Kit #302 - U-shaped stairs
  • Kit #303 - 2 pair of straight stairs
  • Kit #304 - L-shaped stairs
The kits sell for $11.95 each plus $2.00 for shipping. Buy any three kits and shipping is free. These make a really nice addition to any structure where stairs are needed and not included. Stair kits can be ordered from Mike at: Kaw Valley Designs, 6801 Nolan Rd., Shawnee, KS 66216 USA. If you have questions, you can contact Mike via email (remove all spaces) mike   @    kvrr-usa   .com.  Here are some photos of the available kits.

Looking for Chain?

Recently we were moving my son to Rochester NY to start life as a freshman at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) (a very impressive school BTW). As my son is into Warhammer 40K, while we were in Rochester we stopped in at Millennium Games, a Warhammer 40K purveyor located a couple of miles from campus. While browsing a great selection and chatting with the friendly staff, I ran across a product that will be useful in my modeling for scenes where I need chain. It's from Gale Force 9 and the product is 1.5mm chain (Gale Force 9 part number GFS103 Hobby Round: Iron Chain (1.5mm) and the package is 2 meters of chain on a spool. Very inexpensive -- here's a photo. In 1:64 scale it works out to approximately a 1 1/4" chain.  Looks like it would be great for securing flat car loads, use around a farm or shop for heavy duty needs, etc. And when the chain is all used up, the remaining items look to be useful as well -- the spool (perhaps as another load) and plastic case with screw top (for storage). Check it out at Millennium Games or your local wargaming hobby shop...
